Meditation

The other day at youth group, our leader challenged us to mediate on a psalm for a long time, just to spend time with God and be still. This is the verse I found:

"For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall never be shaken."
Psalm 62:1-2

I love that first line--"For God alone my soul waits in silence". Its like how a dog waits for its master to come home--that quiet waiting, wanting and devotion. Knowing that He alone is the food for your soul.

The rest of the verse just reminds me that God is such a rock, a stronghold that protects you in times when you are tired, weary, and your defenses are down. He's something you can always hold onto, and never be let down.

What does this verse mean to you?

  1. To me it means that my soul should be at peace and the soul is not quite living yet because he hasn't come.that he is my everything and nothing can harm me because of him and his salvation and protection.
