One of Those Days
It's been one of those days when you wake up from a night of dreams and lack of sleep, so tired. Then you find ants in your room everywhere for whatever reason, your dog is being bad, then you look in the mirror and are not anymore encouraged. THEN your devotional has the audacity to say that the more we praise God, the more we draw closer to Him. I am not usually a complainer, but this morning I was letting God know exactly how I felt. Praising God was not very high on my list.
Where is the peace He promised? Where is the calm?
On those days when praise must be deliberate, it's then that you are reminded of your place in the universe--you are so small in the bigger picture! Significant, important, yes, but oh so small.
So, as I go out into the rest of my day, I will do my best to combat things with scripture and pray that God will melt my hard heart and replace it with a broken and contrite heart that wills to praise Him in every circumstance. This is something that I think we all need, no matter how much you think your joy is unattached to your circumstances. Because, at the end of the day we know that He still loves us (no matter how improbable that may sound) and we still love our Lord and Savior.
A lot of these posts seem to have "happy endings" where I come to some conclusion and have a happy picture/song lyrics at the end, but I want to make you aware that I still go through out my day knowing the truth, but still fighting the battle (that recently seems to hit me in the mornings....).
Let us become more aware of your presence
Let us experience the glory of your goodness
Let us become more aware of your presence
Let us experience the glory of your goodness
Holy Spirit you are welcomed here
Come fill this place and flood the atmosphere
Your glory is what our hearts long for

The Post on Humility
After being taught this lesson, I understand humility so. much. more.
There is a peace, a freedom after you learn to inhabit this, embrace this. All of the pressure and responsibility we put on ourselves simply for the sake of control--gone. you're freed from that.
Anyway, humility is one of those things we usually have to learn by being in a humbling situation. That for me was Honduras. Thinking that [just because] I had grown a lot [
Sometimes it takes feeling overwhelmed (a feeling similar to drowning) to realize how little you are.
So when you step down,
when you step back
it becomes more like falling in love than anything else.

Things I've Recently Learned
This post would be titled Things I Have Learned This May, modeling a monthly post series after one of my favorite authors/bloggers, but it would be published under the month of June, and that would drive me nuts. And by the time I got around to posting this, it's July. But whatever. Anyway, here are some thing's I have recently learned:
1. It takes me approximately five days to devour [not too fast] a whole pan of brownies.
2. I am bad at reading finals schedules (I swear they switched it on me). Long story. Good ending :) And, the harder you study for finals the more likely your grades will be better. Who knew?
3. How to pack--international style. Hint: pack light....(aka just don't bring anything)...
4. My parents now have to learn to parent a young adult, not a kid.
5. Mapleline is NOT vanilla. I grabbed the wrong one (mapiline) then wondered why my pancakes turned out brown. Then, the next time I made pancakes I mixed up table spoons with tea spoons, so there was so much of everything...but I got the vanilla right :)
6. My dog likes banana popsicles.
7. God sometimes calls us away from our families. This is true in many different stages of life, but sometimes it's just as simple as that.

No-Waste Peanut Butter Peach Smoothies!
So I had to post this because 1) it's a brilliant idea that I had 2) I tested it and it was really good 3) I love food and ice cream and 4) it's kinda cliché because most blogs except mine include some kind/amount of recipes. That's why I'm posting this. And probably because I just finished a book and also have been working all day so my brain is fried (haha--fried. Get the food reference?).
So take two peaches (skins on, core out), vanilla ice cream, milk, a few ice cubes, three individual nutty buddy bars (or whatever they're called), some chocolate chips, a spoonful of peanut butter and blend until smooth.
Notice I have no measurements on here? That's because I didn't use any.
And unless I actually read a recipe allllll the way through (when is that?) I usually just try to use my best judgment (not so great when cooking...I'm apparently missing a lot of the basics).
So just have fun and use more or less of what you want. Just make sure the peanut butter items don't overwhelm the peaches. I like the peaches.
